Finally to our... Show, Show, Show and Tell.

This quilt top was started in the 1940's by my husband David's beloved Grandmother Dudu.  The Hexie's were made using left over fabrics from David's mother Mary's dresses and even a school uniform or two. 

When I started Patchwork way back in 1992 my MIL Mary told me she had a patchwork quilt somewhere would I like it!    Would I?  Yes Please!   But...  David has an evil sister who on hearing of this very quickly snaffled the quilt top up and took it away with her saying she wanted it!    A few years later after this said sister hadn't even touched the quilt MIL Mary, for once in her life, stood up to this evil daughter of hers and demanded the top be bought back to Canberra where I eventually collected it.

It was a mess, filthy dirty and needed straightening out and mending and washing.  I loved working on it then I hand appliqued it to the green border, had it machine quilted then gave it back to my MIL Mary on her 80th Birthday!   Beautiful :-)

It was given back to me on Mary's passing... but it's really David's Quilt and he will sleep under it tonight!

I bought this old (started in 2004, finished in 2013)  Hexi quilt top of mine along to get advice on what to do about having it machine quilted, I have come to the conclusion that I will never get around to hand quilting it, I am just far too busy and important for that!   Anyway jokes aside... what should I do about the border?  do I need more?    There is no way I am willing to applique these 1/2" hexie's onto a border.

 I did get some great advice... does anyone else have any suggestions... all welcome :-)

Rita had lots of Show today,  using scraps from other quilts to make new quilts and cushion covers for friends or Charities.

You need to look very closely at Donna's quilt, it's bits of different shaped fabrics magically turned into a quilt!  Donna used fabrics from Op Shops including the Duvet Cover below for the back.

Stephanie's magical hexagon quilt which was proudly displayed at the Sydney Quilt Show recently, I think I may need to make one like this..... 

This is Lizzie's daughter, who is proudly wearing a jumper and beanie knitted by Lynne... how lucky and happy is she eh!
